Richter, the Enigma (the title of the famous documentary on him by Bruno Monsaingeon) , has the unique ability to go right to the heart of a composition, presenting it as a unity of form and emotion. He never indulged in idiosyncrasies, personal interpretations or eccentricities, the music came first and last, all was printed in the score (thats why in later days he gave recitals, reading the music scores on stage).
