This year, 2006, Brilliant Classics celebrates its tenth anniversary. To mark this occasions we issue 10 boxes with 10 CDs each. They are dedicated to the music by ten great composers.
A selection from Schuberts music has to contain some songs. This set includes Die schöne Müllerin sung by Peter Schreier. The unavoidable but still beautiful Trout Quintet is there, just as the Octet and some symphonies (3, 5, 8, 9). To balance this some pieces for solo piano and a Mass (no. 6) are included as well.
Graceful performances by pianists Martijn van den Hoek (Impromptus) and Klára Würtz. The Hanover Band under Roy Goodman performs the symphonies on period instruments. |
