Additional information:
Norways most beloved composer, Edvard Grieg, received his musical education in Leipzig, imbibing the music of Mendelssohn and Schumann. On the basis of these romantics he developed his own style, in which he prominently implemented elements of the Norwegian folklore and folk music: one can always hear the fjords and woods in the background.

Peer Gynt, originally written as incidental music for a stage play by Heynrick Ibsen, is perhaps Griegs best known and well loved work.
