DvoYák has written extensively for voices. Somehow we hardly ever hear any part of this repertoire. This 3 CD set offers the complete music for two and more voices including the choral works by this composer. Most duets are accompanied on the piano. They are rather a mixed bag with a large number of Moravian songs and some Russian and Irish ones.
The choruses are both mixed or just for male or female voices. The attractive, modest Natures Realm (op. 63) is an example of DvoYáks skilful and economic writing for a cappella choir. Sung in Czech. All texts and translations are provided in the booklet
Excellent performances by the multiple prize winning Prague singers under Stanislav Mistr. The Soprano is Martina Kritznerová, `árka Mistrová, mezzo; Daniela Demuthová, alto; and Michal Kroaek, bass. The pianist are Jaroslov `aroun and SoHa Böhmová. |
