Michael Borgstede has undertaken the huge task of recording all of the 27 Ordres, over 200 pieces, François Couperin (the great) wrote for this keyboard instrument.
This music is a testimony of the composers great love for this instrument. It also shows Couperins moving away from the traditional suites with at most 10 pieces based on dance forms. He invented the term Ordre to escape these conventions. The music of the individual parts of these Ordres increasingly showed homogeneity.
In spite of the now established early music movement complete recordings of Couperins harpsichord works on the original instrument are still rare if not non-existing.
