Kevin Nolan's serene and beautiful debut album is a tribute to the beauty of one of Irelands most ancient monuments.
Newgrange was built around 3200 BC and is older than Stonehenge in England and the Pyramids of Egypt. Built by neolithic communities about 5000 years ago the passage grave has clear astronomical alignments on the morning of the winter solstice. On the morning of the winter solstice the sunlight enters the tiny opening in the passage grave and gradually illuminates the central chamber of the grave.
Large stones outside the mound are decorated with Megalithic art such as spirals, concentric circles, triangles, images and zig zags.
Newgrange is truly a wonder of the ancient world and the album Newgrange: First Light conjures up the majesty and mystery of this magnificent structure.
