Peter Schreier sings Beethoven and he does it rather well... This set of three CDs offers a varying selection of songs by the great classical composer.
Tenor Peter Schreier needs no introduction. Perhaps best known for his Evangelist interpretations in Bachs passions this famous singer performed in all vocal genres. That is until he increasingly disagreed with modern stageings of opera. Now only active as a conductor his recordings as a singer and especially of songs remain a standard in themselves.
Schreier mainly sang songs from the classical and romantic eras with Schubert in front. Here Beethoven is represented by some of his cycles like An die ferne Geliebte. In addition there is a large number of individual songs selected from the composers entire output such as the early An Laura and the much later Resignation.
