Somehow the 4 Suites for orchestra have not been recorded as a complete set that often over the past years. For some reason they were overshadowed by the Brandenburg Concertos. And these wonderful suites have so much to offer to both the listener and the musician!
The suites are rewarding material for ensembles playing on period instruments.
Prominent baroque violinist Andrew Manze has researched the material and performed it with his La Stravaganza.
The results are most enjoyable. A pleasantly compelling cadence, warmth and overall unity, yet ample room for hear individual lines as well. Highly energetic at times.
Remarkable: Manze performs Suite IV in D without the these days customary trumpets and timpani (parallel to Suite III). (They might have been added at a later date.) This reduced ensemble sounds strikingly new.

Excellent recording quality enhanced by the fine acoustics of the Sendsesaal of Deutschland Radio Köln in Germany.
Suitable to a wide audience with several angles (Bach, authentic performance practice, easy listening ) at our usual budget price.
